Staley was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1997 and made an immediate impact. In just his second season with the Eagles, he rushed for 1,065 yards and scored six total touchdowns. Staley's bruising running style and extreme determination made him a fan favorite. He was one of the first players to successfully come back from a Lisfranc fracture. He rushed for over 1,000 yards twice and scored 32 total touchdowns in seven years with the Eagles. Following the 2006 season, Staley signed a one day contract with the Eagles and retired. He was honored at halftime of a game on December 9th, 2007 for his contributions with the Eagles.
Staley stayed in the game, however, and joined Andy Reid's Eagles coaching staff in 2010. He was promoted to Running Backs Coach in 2013. Staley's running back group was one of the big reasons the Eagles hoisted the Lombardi Trophy this past season. Following the season he was rewarded with being named Assistant Head Coach, while maintaining his Running Backs Coach position, to current Eagles Head Coach Doug Pederson.
Staley will be in Baseballtown in support of the Olivet Boys and Girls Club. The Olivet Boys and Girls Club enables all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as healthy, productive, caring and responsible citizens. There are eight clubs in Reading and Pottstown and six additional 21st Century Learning Center sites within the Reading School District. Proceeds from a silent auction, Eagles Tribute hat sales, and Savage 61 Toss a Ball fundraiser will all benefit the Olivet Boys and Girls Club!
