Toledo, Ohio - The Toledo Mud Hens and Indianapolis Indians played two on Wednesday following Tuesday's rain out with the Mud Hens taking game one in walk-off fashion before the Indians captured game two.

After overcoming an early 7-0 deficit, the Mud Hens won the first game of the doubleheader thanks to a walk-off base knock by Jeimer Candelario that gave Toledo a 9-8 win. However, in game two, the Indians utilized three solo home runs to win by a score of 3-1 to split the doubleheader.
Game One
The doubleheader began with a rough start for Toledo. Kyle Funkhouser, who started the game pitching for the Mud Hens, was pulled after just two outs were recorded in the first, giving up four hits and four walks while striking out one and allowing seven runs. He was relieved by the left-handed Trent Szkutnik who walked a batter before seeing a fly out to end the top of the first with Indianapolis leading 7-0.
On a rehab assignment, Candelario attempted to get the comeback started in the bottom of the first, doubling to the right-field corner with one out. However, that would be the only offensive action for Toledo in the first.
The bottom of the second was a different story for the Hens. Willi Castro led off with a solo shot to deep center field followed by Mikie Mahtook with a home run of his own. The duo of round-trips marked the first time since June 5 that the Mud Hens did so when Victor Reyes and Mahtook knocked two against Columbus.
Toledo made another pitching change prior to the start of the fifth inning. Eduardo Jiménez replaced Szkutnik, who went 3.1 innings allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out four. As for Jimenez, he struck out one batter in his one inning pitched before Bryan Garcia came on to pitch in the sixth. Garcia allowed a run in the sixth while giving up two hits and walk, but also striking out one.
Back at the plate, Castro began the sixth inning the same way he did the second, with a solo home run, this one to right field. After two outs were recorded, Pete Kozma saw a groundball bounce off third for a single before scoring on a double by Chad Sedio. Daz Cameron and Candelario both drew walks to load the bases, bringing the tying run to the plate, but a Christin Stewart line drive to right would be caught to end the inning with Indianapolis leading 8-4.
On the mound, Daniel Stumpf came on in the top of the seventh for Toledo, replacing Garcia. Stumpf struck out two in the inning while allowing one hit.
To begin the bottom of the seventh, Grayson Greiner singled. After an out, Mahtook joined Greiner on the base paths before a Jacob Robson single scored Greiner with Mahtook moving to third before Kozma drew a walk to load the bases followed by a pitching change. A dribbler in front of the plate by Sedio allowed Mahtook to score, but resulted in the second out of the inning. A single by Cameron scored both Robson and Kozma to tie the game at eight, completing a seven-run deficit comeback by Toledo. Next, Candelario slapped a base hit to score Cameron, giving Toledo a 9-8 walk-off win.
Game Two
Zac Reininger got the start for Toledo in the second game of the doubleheader, marking his second start of the season, and third of his professional career. Reininger went three innings for the Mud Hens, allowing one run on four hits while striking out two before being replaced by Austin Adams at the start of the fourth inning.
Adams went two innings in relief, allowing one run on one hit and one walk while also striking out one. The next arm out of the pen was Victor Alcántara to begin the sixth inning.
The Mud Hens got on the board for the first time in the sixth inning. With one out, Cameron unleashed a shot to left-center for home run number 12 of his season to cut the Indianapolis lead to 3-1.
John Schreiber took the mound for Toledo at the top of the seventh, replacing Alcantara who went one inning, giving up one run on one hit while also tallying one strikeout. In the seventh, Schreiber walked one before recording three outs.
In the bottom of the seventh, Castro led off with a bloop double to shallow left field, down the third base line, but that would be the only action in the inning with Indianapolis winning 3-1.
What's Next:
The Mud Hens and Indians will conclude their four-game series on Thursday with starting pitchers yet to be determined. On Friday, Toledo will travel to Columbus to face the Clippers for a three-game weekend series.
