Luis Castillo forgets to run, thrown out at first

April 16th, 2019

Always keep your eyes on the ball.

Reds pitcher Luis Castillo learned that lesson on Monday night at Dodger Stadium. Leading off the third inning against Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, Castillo punched what looked like an opposite-field single into right field. But Castillo didn't run out of the box. Instead, he stared at his bat, which he appeared to chip.

So with Castillo staring at his bat, and not running, Dodgers right fielder Cody Bellinger ran in, double-pumped and threw out Castillo at first. Finally realizing he had put the ball into play, Castillo started jogging to first, with the bat in his right hand. But by then, it was too late.
